[3][4][5The Wave is known for his powerful voice and mixing R&B and hiphop [2and has been recognized as the first pioneer of soul-trap. His single for 2019 "Heart on Ice" was a big hit via YouTube as well as TikTok. It peaked at the top 25 spot on Billboard Hot 100. "Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019), peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. [8] His second album Pray 4 Love (2020) peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 at number 2,[9and ranked at number 9. It included the track "Rags2Riches" that climbed to number 12 on the Hot 100. His third album, SoulFly (2021), was his debut album , peaking at the number 1 spot. It was his first album to chart. Wave's career began in 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol. 1. Wave released several mixtapes by himself prior to signing with Alamo Records. The mixtape PTSD was released on June 14 in 2019. The mixtape included the track "Heart on Ice". The song went viral on YouTube and TikTok it reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut album of Wave, Ghetto Gospel, was released on November 1, 2019. It reached the top 10 spot on the US Billboard 200. Rod Wave's sophomore album, Pray 4 Love, was released on April 3 in 2020. It debuted at the second spot on the Billboard 200, with a Deluxe edition to follow the 7th of August. [9] Several songs from the album charted on Billboard Hot 100, including "s" (featuring ATR Son Son),[11][12][13The song hit the top 12 spot on the Hot 100 and became his highest-charting song. [14] On August 11 the 11th of August, 2020, Wave was included on the XXL's 2020 Freshman class. Wave came out in July of 2020, revealing that he was still making his third album. The album was originally scheduled for August 27, 2020. Two years later, he announced the tracklist of his album SoulFly in an interview held on March 6th, 2021. [16][17] The album also contains songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone" the highest-charting track that peaked at 11 on the Hot 100. [18][19] Wave released the single "Nirvana" in the latter half of 2021. It caused some debate as some believed it was a suicide song, which Wave strongly denied. [20]
