Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg is a Swedish actress. She appeared in a number of films, both European as well as American. Most famously, she is known for playing the role of "La Dolce Via," an action-comedy film. In 1960 the film received an award of the Golden Palm and an Oscar by the Cannes Film Festival. The film also received critically and commercial success. Her birthplace was Skane where she worked as model prior to embarking on an acting career. Eventually, she won the Miss Sweden Contest. After her move to US she was able to act in films and acting in minor characters. She was in the role of Venusian Guard in the movie 'Abbott and Costello's Trip to Mars.' This was her first credit role. That same year she won with the Golden Globe in the category of "Most Outstanding Newcomer," for her performance in the film 'Blood Alley. In addition, she appeared in a variety of films over the course of her career. The most notable of these is the War Drama between Italy and America 'War and Peace' as well as and the Western movie "Valerie" and the British Adventure Crime film "The Man Inside and"The Dam on the Yellow River," a French and Italian drama The Dam on the Yellow River. Her death occurred in the year 2015 aged 83.
