Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She's also a seasoned public speech writer. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency which is a website with videos and guest posts discussing the depictions of females in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that examines female representations in narratives from popular culture. Destroying stereotypes about women are her primary goals. However, Sarkeesian also highlights issues related to specific harassment of women on the internet and for other groups that have been marginalized. Holding a master's degree in social and political thought at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival as well as at The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Inquiring about gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the University. As of 2009, this ebullient young woman was slammed on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. However, the attacks did not dissuade her. She was only able to strengthen her position as a journalist who is feminist. As a result of the many accomplishments she's made to feminism, she is recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational nonprofit that studies the way women are depicted in media narratives.
